1. Hardware: connect the meter or sensor to the PC using an RS485–USB adapter. Windows exposes it as a COM port.
  2. Port configuration: in the RS485 section select the COM port, speed (baud rate) and the device's communication parameters.
  3. Verification: the status indicator confirms communication; readings start arriving on the live monitor.
  4. Logging: each reading is stored in the historical table with a timestamp for later analysis.
